Air Supplied Full Suits

Simplair A.E. Tank Suit

The Respirex Simplair A.E. Tank (Type 2) “non-gas tight” suit is designed for use with breathable air supplied from an external compressed air source providing positive pressure.

The quality of air flowing into the suit must conform to the European standard EN 12021:1999.

The Respirex Simplair A.E. Tank suit is CE marked to the latest European standard for protective clothing for use against liquid and gaseous chemicals including liquid aerosols and solid particles, prEN943-1:1997.

Product Features

  • An air system completely contained within the garment that provides breathing and cooling air to the user with an audible warning device designed to activate if the airflow drops below the minimum level.A total of 440 l/m of air is fed into the suit, of which 240 l/m is fed to the head for breathing and 200 l/m is fed in equal proportions to each extremity of the suit. This helps to maintain a comfortable ambient temperature within the garment and prevents the user from suffering early heat exhaustion.
  • An adjustable waist belt supports the air system. The belt is fitted with a foam back pad for increased comfort.
  • Sufficient exhalation valves are fitted to ensure that the pressure change within the suit does not exceed 1mbar in 1 minute.
  • A durable rigid PVC visor giving a high degree of undistorted vision. To help prevent damage to the surface of the main visor an optional disposable outer visor can be fitted.
  • 3 point hanging system which helps prevent distortion during storage.
  • A 122cm (48”) heavy-duty gas tight zipper is fitted vertically down the right hand side of the suit. The zipper can close at the top or the bottom depending upon the customer’s requirements.
  • Gloves that are compatible with the suit material.
  • Double elasticated leg with stirrup.
  • Soft cuff with locking ring.
  • Optional integral socks.
  • Optional detachable boots.
  • Optional fall arrest harness.

Important Notes

Each suit will consume between a minimum of 360 l/m (13CFM) and a maximum of 440 l/m (16 CFM) of air. It is important that the compressed air source is of sufficient size to deliver the correct airflow to the suit.
A wide range of approved airline couplings can be fitted to the suit, however it is recommended that large bore couplings are used.
In the event that partical contamination may exist in the factory ring main from which the suit draws its air supply, a Respirex in-line filter unit should be fitted to the air system; this will prevent the ingression of contamination down to 5 microns in size from entering the garment.
Simplair A.E. Tank suits are supplied pre-set by Respirex to operate at the customer’s specific airline pressure. Respirex recommend an internal bore size of 9.5mm (3/8”) for the air supply hose to be used with the garment; this hose should be approved to EN270:1994.
